Nude in the Branches is one of the six or seven paintings by Kees van Willigen with a mythical subject. It shows the body of a naked, headless woman lying in an enclosure of probably dead branches hung with shreds of fabric, one hand ending at the muddy edge of a body of water.

The curves of the branches echo those of the body, illustrating the organic character of the work. The colours are those of a drama in nature.
