The Bronze Goat evokes Monsieur Seguin’s goat. It takes its name from its colour, that of bronze oxide. Its expression is one of defiance, in contrast to The Goat and the Child, which expresses weariness.

The style is cubist, with a balanced use of contours. Unlike The Goat and the Child, which is closer to a study, this is a finished painting.
